Welcome to Ozark Modern Crafting! I’m Emily Cross, the creative creature behind it all.

Like so many others, 2020 was a year of transformation for me. It was a time to reflect, create, and reconnect with the things that truly matter. Moving back home to the Ozarks, I found myself drawn to the natural beauty, rich traditions, and quiet wisdom of my surroundings.

Ozark Modern Crafting is my answer to a deeply personal question: What is my WHY, my purpose? My purpose is simple yet profound: to celebrate creativity as a way of life, rooted in tradition and striving to grow. From tutorials and inspiration to art and thoughtful connections, this work exists to nurture the creative spirit.

Through crafts like quilting, crocheting, knitting and more, I’ve lucked into a mindful practice that weathers life’s challenges—a time in my day when the world makes sense because it’s what’s coming from my hands and heart with every stitch. These are joys my grandmothers knew and I am delighted to see coming alive in the world around me with more people than ever learning crafts.
